theatreWashington and TodayTix Turn Spotlight on Area Stages
theatreWashington offers its annual shopping spree of ticketing discounts during theatreWeek 2016, a celebration that encompasses more than 30 participating theatres presenting work from September 21 to October 2. Included are musicals, dramas, comedies, and theatre for young audiences. Discount details will be posted at theatreWashington.org beginning at 10 a.m. on September 5. Beginning September 14, all discounts will also be available through the TodayTix ticketing app.
TodayTix joins theatreWashington and theatreWeek 2016 as part of a growing partnership that began with sponsorship of this year’s Helen Hayes Awards . Audiences will be able to use the TodayTix app to purchase tickets from all participating theatreWeek theatres, gaining access to more than 30 discounted productions on their mobile devices.
Amy Austin, theatreWashington’s President and CEO, commented, “We’ve got two goals this year. First, we want to see a lot of new faces in our theatres, people who have never tried a live performance, or who aren’t aware of all that Washington has to offer. Second, we want to see our dedicated theatregoers trying something new. We want to see folks who love The Shakespeare Theatre Company venturing over to Woolly Mammoth. We want to see folks who love musicals try a serious drama. There are literally no limits to what’s available in this theatre community.”
"We couldn't be happier to partner with theatreWashington to support Washington, D.C.'s flourishing theater scene," added Brian Fenty, Chairman and co-founder of TodayTix. "We are proud to leverage our technology to help connect audiences to the diverse and exciting shows happening all over town."
